Julie Saunders has been appointed as Chair of Brisbane affordable housing provider, Bric.
She replaces Samantha Kennerley who has stepped down from the board after several years as a board member and a year as chair.
Julie is an urban planner with over 30 years of experience working in diverse roles around the country. She is currently a Director at Urbis and has very wide experience across various levels of government, the not for profit sector as well as in the private sector. Julie was recently appointed by the Minister as the Chair for the Housing Supply Expert Panel and is Chair of the Queensland Chapter of Learning Environments Australasia.
Julie comments: “I am excited to join the Bric Board and look forward to actively contributing as Chair. Bric plays a vital role in the affordable housing sector in South East Queensland and I am proud to be a part of the team. As a Board, we will continue to focus on initiatives that help provide the best outcomes for our tenants and partners.”
Commenting on the change, Bric CEO Craig Brennan said: “I am looking forward to working with Julie as Chair and would also like to thank Samantha for her service. This year has certainly been a challenging one for the whole housing sector but we believe Bric is well placed to grow and continue to develop our services to tenants. Our Board provide vital leadership and support in this regard and I know Julie has the skills to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to achieve high quality outcomes.”
